I was introduced to riding motorcycles by my loving wife. Her father had taught her how to ride and after we began dating she taught me to ride in a parking lot off Eisenhower Avenue in Alexandria. After my first real bike purchase off my then brother-in-law of a 1979 XS 750 triple my street bike career was underway. For the next ten years my riding was street riding and touring.
Fifteen years ago I met my good friend Skip who introduced me to off-road riding. Through the purchase and resurrection of a few vintage Can-am’s, Yamaha’s, Suzuki’s I finally landed a modern bike.
During this time I began participating in a number of off-road events in Virginia, Canada, and New Jersey gaining experience. In 2006 I was chosen to co-instruct and lead off-road events for KTM Adventure Tours, a short lived excursion but that first adventure tour was memorable.
Following a dream and the support of my wife and son I starting reading The Heroes Legend Paris to Dakar Rallye website. After a year of saving money and training I took part in the 2008 running of the rally, and was the sole American to participate and finish the race on my 2001 KTM 640 Adventure.
During the rally I met and began my friendship with Daniel Doritz, and Lutz Semtner of Kedo parts and accessories in Germany and the opportunity to import their parts and accessories.
Keep checking in from time to time, see what’s in the shop, what’s available for your XT/TT/SR500, or where I’m off to next…..
Everyone Enjoy, Chris Grimm
